I’ve been passionate about health and nutrition since my early teens – an interest that was an offshoot of my enthusiasm for playing tennis. Always striving to become a better athlete, I attended seminars and classes on sports nutrition, sports medicine, and sports psychology, and studied the principles of coaching and motivation.
As a student-athlete at Old Dominion University, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and followed up with a Master’s Degree in Counseling. Following graduation, I had the privilege of serving as Assistant Coach of the ODU Women’s NCAA Division I tennis team. This track suited me well and led me through to the next chapter in my life – a 10-year stint in business, specifically in Human Resources.
Then everything changed! I became a mom (my favorite “job” ever!) and that’s when my “old” interests began to pop back up. The health of my young son became a top priority, and I realized I had to take better care of myself, as I began to experience very uncomfortable symptoms related to hormone imbalance. From anxiety and fatigue to fibrocystic breasts and inconsistent menstrual cycles, the truth is, I felt depleted most of the time throughout my thirties. Not wanting to medicate, I began to re-educate myself on nutrition and wellness, this time investing my energy in the study of natural solutions. I’m happy to report that today I feel better than ever and so does my family!
Shortly after I got my hormones back on track, my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer. Now a firm believer in the power of natural healing, I dug in once again and researched natural methods of boosting the body’s healing response using targeted proven herbs and nutrients. I now know that suffering and hopelessness is far from the only option for those diagnosed with cancer or any other disease.
Through all of the ups and downs of my journey so far, I found my passion: helping people best prepare their body for balance and healing. Back in 2010, I decided to make that passion official. I enrolled in and completed the accredited Holistic Health Practitioner Program at the Global College of Natural Medicine to become certified in my field. I then followed up with an additional certification specifically in Nutritional Consulting (C.N.C.) through the American Association of Nutritional Consultants.
So, if you need support for your health and are thinking about hiring me, know this: I love what I do. I care about my clients and am 100% committed to helping them achieve a positive outcome. You will always get the best that I have to offer. I owe that to you. After all, there is nothing more important than your health.
